clinics

VFA’s clinics are designed and run by qualified coaches and current and former high-level fastpitch players to support our athletes in growing and refining their softball skills. Instruction in a small-group format with a low instructor to athlete ratio allows for personalized development.

  • Skills Clinics focus on developing fundamental softball skills for U9, U11, U13C, U15C, U17C, and U20C players. Players receive technical instruction in hitting, throwing, and fielding mechanics to improve consistency, enhance performance, and support long-term development. Training incorporates game play scenarios, giving players an understanding of how to apply their skills in real game situations. U9 skills clinics include introductory pitching instruction for all participants. Players should bring whatever equipment they have (e.g. glove, helmet, bat, batting gloves) to skills clinics.
  • Pitching Clinics offer age and level appropriate pitching instruction to U9 through U19/U20 (B and C) players. All pitchers MUST bring someone to catch for them (parent, sibling, friend, teammate, etc.). Pitchers and their catchers must bring their own gloves.
  • Catching Clinics offer all-ages catching instruction for U9, U11, U13C, U15C, U17C, and U20C players. Catchers must bring their own gloves. Catching gear will be provided to registrants if they don’t have their own.

Offseason clinics

Offseason clinics (Skills, Pitching and Catching) are for players who wish to learn or improve their fundamental skills and “level up” in between playing seasons. This type of offseason development can be difficult to find outside of Rep-level programs; we are excited to offer this opportunity to all VFA athletes. Offseason training is usually offered in two multi-week sessions: Fall (September – December) and Winter (January – March). Players are welcome to sign up for only one session or the other, but for Skills Clinics in particular the Winter session will build on skills developed in the Fall session. Fall session registrants will also receive preferred access to registration for the Winter session.

Due to limited instructor and player availability during the fastpitch season, in-season clinic options are usually limited to Pitching. In the past, in-season pitching clinics have usually been offered on Sunday mornings. Future scheduling may vary.

Clinic registration is first-come, first-served. However, we do our best to make sure all athletes can be accommodated. If a session is full please join the waitlist.
